May be helpful in the treatment of hypertension, especially if salt
intake is high. Studies also indicate that it may be useful for the
prevention of kidney stones.

Bananas, orange juice, potatoes, avocados, lima beans, cantaloupes,
peaches, tomatoes, flounder, salmon, cod - all contain more than
300mg (15 mEq) per serving.
Therapeutic dosage
10 - 20 mEq (200 - 400 mg) 3 - 4 times per day.
Safety concerns
Kidney disease limits the amount of potassium that can be excreted as
do potassium sparing diuretics, so postassium may build up in the body.
Interactions
With diuretics (not potassium sparing), corticosteroids, cholicine,
aspirin, haloperidol you may need more potassium.
